This is the note my Dear left on the beach for me last year!  I love you too Sweetie!!

If you have not read it- I recomend reading the Yarn Harlot’s post today.  WELL SAID!!!!

As for me, we have a great rule in our house!  Valentine’s presents must be made!  You have seen the Fetching gloves my sweetie got this morning- He loved them (or was at least kind enought to pretned).  I must admit- i was a bit sad that they fit!  Now I have to make myself a pair!

This morning, my boys gave me this:

 valentine.JPG

In case you don’t read 3 1/2 year old- it says ” I love to play with my Mama!”  The larger one at home says “I love my Mommy, ’cause she is my friend, ’cause she loves me”  The fact that there are only a handful of letters is not the point (he writes in a VERY condesed language)!

They spent an hour in the dinning room last night (while I had a FAB bath!).   To have Sweetie do anything crafty is a sign of how much he loves me and how willing he is to humor me (crafty/handy are not words one would often use to describe him!)  I got a collection of foam craft hearts with sitickers and such- Zae got to glue things . . . This was the highlight for him!  These big hearts remind me of the homemade cards you see in movies or cartoons for V-day.  The kind you made for mom as a kid . . . You know the ones with HUGE Doillies and such . . . I always wanted one of those!

Today is Zae’s first school V-Day.  Rememeber how much those sucked!  Making the box and hoping you got as many of the stupid little cards as you gave?  Zae took his box of SpiderMan Valentienes to school- I hope all goes well for him.  His school requests that you only sign your child’s name to the card, not assign the cards to specific kids, we will see . . .

I hope today finds you and yours happy and well!  On a day that the world dedicates to heart shaped candy boxes and oversized balloons, remember the importnat thing.  We love these people ”cause they are our friends, ‘casue they love us!  Take the time today to remember how lucky we are!

This Friday (tomarrow) is  National Go Red for Women Day to  raise awareness for Heart Disease in Women.

I think you would be hard pressed to find one of us who has not been touched in some way with female heart disease.  However, we are also aware that much less is known about heart disease in women than in men.

My Aunt, who I love more that words can say, has battled with heart disease as long as I can remember.  Tomarrow, I will Wear Red for her and the rest of the women I love.

Please take the time when you get dressed in the morning to put on red- Let’s all do this.

I learned about this from my friend, IrishMama.  Please pass it on to your friends too!  We all know Knitters (and those who love us) can make a diffrence– let’s do it here too!

Ok- I am a big huge DORK!  When I posted the picture of the button hole  bag a few days ago, I also sent a picture to Ann at Mason Dixion (at the end of the pattern they ask you to, I am not that big of a dork!).

Ann wrote me back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- it came to my work email this am.  I feel so cool.  She was very sweet and kind!  I feel like a total dork right now, but I am so excited.

That is one way to brighten up the Friday before Finals!

One of the best things about teaching Acting is that some of my classes are only semester long.  That meas that in 2 week, I get new classes!  I like that!  Only kids who have a C or better in Acting 1 can take Actin 2- so second semester is where I get to weed out the kids that don’t want to be here.  So I am left with the more solid kids in Acting 2.  I also like Acting 2 more for a subject.  It is less of the basics and more of the History and style of theatre- MUCH more fun for me (Acting 1 is the stuff I learned in my first acting class (I was 10).  It gets really dull for me- 3 hours a day 107 kids!

The cold spell here has broken for now-  It is getting back up to normal for a while anyway.  There wasn’t as much ice on my van this am (the heater is working again- much better).  I can see blue sky through the windows in my room- I want to be outside, in a park or something- it is that kind of weather.  Oh Well . . .

Ok- As I have said before, I live is the SF Bay Area.  We have normally have a form of winter- but not a real, snow & such winter.  NOT THIS YEAR!

We are having the coldest weather on record- not fun.

This is a pic from a local Nurseryfern-and-ice-resized.JPG

FERN AND ICE!

This is just wrong.  When you live in a place that still sells ferns in January, you should not have this kind of ice.

On Sunday, there was still a LOT of ice on the van when we went to church at 9:15 am!  It was so cold that we put water to defrost-and the water froze (this is not normal where we live).  I guess our front hose leaks a bit- as there was a little ice stalagmite under the hose!

I hope you are warmer!  Have a mentioned the heater in my Van doesn’t work in the mornings?  I am so very cold!

Less than a week to go until I can take the time to knit these- Pictures from www.Simplysockyarn.com photo books

I will learn to knit socks on DECEMBER 26- I will have my own homemade socks to warm my cold little toes (actually I have mostly little toes and two GREAT TOES- but that is a WHOLE ‘nother story).  I want these

Also from www.simplysockyarn.com- KILLER PLACE FOR SOCK YARN-

I want to learn to knit socks SO BADLY-  every night when I put on my PJ I think about my desire for warm, cute socks.

I took on and won my first battles with DPNs last weekend- made some hats- the hats were on 10 1/2 needles- so socks will be MUCH smaller- but the skills are the same (I hope).  I have never knit on anything less than a 7US- so this could be interesting.

BUT I NEED THE SOCKS!

Any hints?

OK- some of you know thatI have been having big weird Allergy issues for the last 6 months- lots of swelling and hives and such.  I finally got a referral to Allergy clinic last week and went yesterday . . . get ready for it . . . guess what I am most likely allergic to . . .ME

Yep- there is a really good chance (pending a few tests) that my body is producing anti-bodies against itself!  Yep- I am allergic to me!  The sad thing is it makes sense- That is kind of what the thyroid issue I have is (my body thinks my thyroid is an infection, so it attacks.)  I have had other issues in the past where my body read the signals wrong and attacked that which was not evil.

But I thought you would get a kick out of the fact that I am allergic to ME!  You know the boy in the bubble- can’t help me- I can never be away from that which makes my body go nuts- I am just looking at LOTS AND LOTS of antihistamines for a long time- big ones- no more Benedryl for me.

Most of the time, I think this funny (whatelse can i do but laugh).  Really, if you think about it, the whole thing is VERY silly!  Alergic to self . . . what kind of Freak am I?

First- there will be no pics today-  I do not have one that does justice to the cold that has set in to the Bay Area right now.

The last report I saw for Pittsburg, CA (where I work) was for 29 degrees.  Pittsburgh, PA (note the H at the end of that Pittsburgh, we here in CA are TOO cool for the H) 39 degrees.  HELLO!!!!!!!!!!  I live in California,  land of the warm, WHY ISN’T IT WARM?  I know, those of you who live in colder lands (if you are reading, please tell me how cold you are, it will make me feel better), think I am whining- I am . . . but let me tell you why.

LOTS of ice on Vinnie this am (my mini-van, Vincent VanGough- get it!).  Went out, turned on the van, defrost etc- went in finished doing my hair (as much as I ever do, too lazy to get out dryer).  Came out- NO CHANGE IN THE ICE!  OK- so I get the boy in the car and get the hose- and get a tiny little sad trickle of water.  Can’t get the hose to hit the drivers side of the window (you know, where I need to see!).  So DUMB-BUM me moves- keeps the hose on the window and DRENCHES myself- No coat- I hate them- just gloves and my clothes- no time to go change- gotta run due to a car crash on the freeway (which I NEVER saw- but I digress).

Water on the glasses (froze), water in the hair (which was still damp to begin with- see to lazy to dry hair comment above), water on the sweater- water EVERYWHERE- VERY COLD WATER EVERYWHERE!

Please let this be a better day than the am leads me to think-  I have a DR appointment this afternoon to deal with the Allergy fun that has been the bane of my life for the past 6+ months- I need good thoughts!

I hope this finds you all safe, warm and DRY!
